A Women’s Social Rap
Dance: Barbara Herbert. Music: Markus Schröder. Sound: Andi Gleichmann. Direction, text (German), narration, camera, effects, editing: Myriam Thyes
Myriam Thyes’s rap-style poem recounts an incident that befell her in Rome in 1986. The static background of the video shows handcuffs – photographed by Thyes in such a way that they resemble an infinity symbol.
Sound engineers, musicians and composers Markus Schröder and Andi Gleichmann (then students at the University of Applied Sciences and the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf) contributed the music and sound mixing.
The video was filmed at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Barbara Herbert interpreted the text and music through her dance, basing her movements on the shape of the handcuffs.
