HERITAGE

Exhibition as part of Steirischer Herbst 2015

26.09.2015 – 18.10.2015Group ExhibitionSchaumbad – Freies Atelierhaus GrazGrazAustria

In 2013, Schaumbad – Freies Atelierhaus Graz moved into an old industrial building in Graz’s Triesterviertel – on the outskirts of the city, with a less than attractive neighbourhood: a slaughterhouse, a waste recycling plant, a prison, some rundown housing estates, and drinking pubs. In order to find their own role in this economically and socially exposed environment, the members of the studio house began to understand the neighbourhood and embed it in projects with local reference. This appropriation process was continued in 2015 at steirischer herbst. HERITAGE examined the process of inheriting, discovering and accepting legacies. The project was implemented in the form of research and interpretation, with a self-critical attitude and the aim of (re)inventing origin, identity and ownership. The project brought together numerous individual contributions to create an ‘archive of fictional realities’ in the Triestersiedlung. It formed the core, basis and background for an exhibition as well as for guided tours, readings, short lectures, and scenographic miniatures that were coordinated with the motifs of the exhibition. Concept: Orhan Kipcak. Project management: Bettina Gjecaj

Including the project by Myriam Thyes + Eva Ursprung: The Mushroom Pool Emerges!
