Organizers: German State Organization of Galleries and ‘Culture in Train Stations’. Initiative, concept, and program by [STRICTLY PUBLIC]
14 artists presented video art in 26 Central Stations all over Germany. Three different programs were shown in monthly changes. Main stations in the cities: Aachen, Berlin, Bochum, Braunschweig, Bremen, Chemnitz, Cologne, Cottbus, Dortmund, Dresden, Duisburg, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt a.M., Hamburg, Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Kassel, Leipzig, Lübeck, Munich, Oldenburg, Osnabrück, Saarbrücken, Schwerin, Stuttgart, Würzburg.
On opening days, visitors were able to see the entire video art program along with interviews with each artist (by Maria A. Tappeiner). During the following months, video art was presented throughout the whole day, between information and advertisement. And with no difference between opening or regular days, all video art, as well as the entire Bahninform program, were displayed nationwide.
Opening of the first program: Sep. 9, Frankfurt Central Station. Greetings by Heinz Holtmann, chairman of BVDG, and Klaus Vogt, chairman of ‘Culture in Train Stations’. Introduction by Nicolaus Schafhausen, Director of Frankfurter Kunstverein.
Opening of the second program: Oct. 6, Berlin, Station Zoo. Introduction by Andreas Broeckmann, Director of the Media Art Festival ‘Transmediale’.
Opening of the third program: Nov. 3, Cologne Central Station, parallel to the Art fair ‘Art Cologne’. Introduction by Andreas Broeckmann.
