From Here To Now

Twenty years ago, the moment had finally arrived: the Salzmannbau was completed following several years of extensive refurbishment. In 1994, 85 social and student flats, 36 residential and artists’ studios, as well as office space for charitable organisations, were ready for occupation.

The artists of the Salzmannbau celebrated the anniversary with the exhibition VON HIER BIS JETZT (FROM HERE TO NOW). Each participating artist exhibited two works: one from the year they moved in and one current piece. This highlighted both continuity and change within the individual practices of the various artists. Looking back, it was also possible to examine commonalities or developments within the local artistic community – despite the diversity of artistic approaches.
