Flag Installation. Occasion: 50th anniversary of the state of North Rhine Westphalia and its capital city Dusseldorf.
Nine handpainted flags, each one shows a different, ‘inofficial’ symbol. Smuggled into the rows of ‘official’ flags they flutter at prominent public spots in the centre of Dusseldorf. Myriam Thyes’ flags are counter-representatives, wishful images and warning signs at the same time which function as surprising statements in between governmental flags.
