The third presentation of the collection to mark the 30th anniversary of the Kunstmuseum Ahlen is dedicated to the period from post-war modernism to the present day. Over 120 works by around 75 artists represent the diversity of art that has been created over the past decades. The enormous range – from Fred Thieler or Adolf Luther to Eduard Micus, Margareta Hesse, Beat Zoderer, Margret Eicher or Miriam Jonas, between classical painting and conceptual art, concrete forms and figurative representation, traditional techniques and new media – reflects the museum’s 30-year exhibition history. Vis-a-Vis Treffpunkt Sammlung (Vis-a-Vis Meeting Point Collection) presents stories of development and artistic concepts in the cabinets of the historic villa. In the large showrooms, pairs of artists engage in dialogue: works of art that are seemingly very different and yet enter into conversation with each other through a technique, a formal correspondence or an aesthetic question: A vis-a-vis of art, in vis-a-vis with the public.
